What's Dravid And Rohit's 1st Impression Of New York Pitch? Report Says...

The Indian cricket team will play three group stage matches of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. The Rohit Sharma -led side will take on Ireland on June 5 before the much-anticipated clash against Pakistan on June 9. India's last match at the venue will be against the United States on June 12. Before the tournament starts, India will also face Bangladesh in a warm-up match on Friday and ahead of that match, head coach Rahul Dravid and skipper Rohit Sharma inspected the drop-in pitch at the venue. According to a report on Cricbuzz , their first impression of the pitch was that it seemed "normal and good" and will most probably favour the batters.  There was a lot of speculation over how the drop-in pitches will behave with most teams not quite familiar with these kinds of surfaces. However, the warm-up match against Bangladesh will provide a brilliant opportunity to the Indian cricket team players to understa...

Mitch Marsh Will Not Bowl In T20 WC Opener Against Oman: Australia Coach

Australia skipper Mitchell Marsh will not bowl in their T20 World Cup opener against Oman on June 6 and will play only as a batter as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury sustained during the IPL, said head coach Andrew McDonald on Friday. Marsh played both the World Cup warm-up games against Namibia and co-hosts West Indies in Trinidad, scoring 18 and 4 respectively. But the pace-bowling all-rounder did not field for the full bowling innings in either games, with Matthew Wade taking over captaincy duties in his absence. "For Mitch, (the warm-up games) was about ticking off where his body was at," McDonald told cricket.com.au. "He fielded more overs tonight (in the warm-up against West Indies), he was able to move more freely, so he's building a little bit of confidence there. It looks as though he's all set for the first game," he added. Marsh played just four matches for Delhi Capitals in the recently concluded IPL following a right hamstri...

PAK To Suffer Big Upset Loss In T20 WC? Ex-IND Star's Massive Prediction

Former Indian cricket team batter Robin Uthappa believes that Pakistan can suffer a shocking loss against Ireland in the T20 World Cup 2024 group stage. Pakistan is place in Group A of the competition along with India, Canada, Ireland and the United States. In a conversation with Ravichandran Ashwin ahead of the tournament, Uthappa was asked whether he believes Ireland can cause an upset in Group A and he quickly responded that he believes that they can end up defeating Pakistan.  “Ireland can potentially casue an upset. Ireland are in the same group as India, Pakistan, Canada and USA. So, where is the upset coming from?,” Ashwin asked in the video. “Pakistan. I was waiting to give the answer when you asked the question,” Uthappa replied. Ashwin, however, teased him that the last time Ireland defeated a team was in 2022 when they registered a huge win over England. However, England went on to win the competition. In response, Uthappa said that Pakistan has been a side which s...

T20 WC: India Eye Redemption As Big-Ticket Cricket Touches Base In America

There will be the usual favourites, the mavericks, the chokers and also the unpredictable minnows -- the script is familiar for a World Cup but the scale would be unprecedented when the T20 showpiece, featuring a record 20 teams, spearheads cricket's audacious charge into the American market starting in New York on Saturday. While India would be eager to shed the baggage of near-misses, Australia would like to add another chapter to their tale of domination. For the likes of Pakistan and West Indies, the primary target would be to keep in check their tendency to implode at the most inopportune time. Defending champions England and South Africa too will be a force to reckon with, especially the latter. Given the presence of match-winners like Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Quinton de Kock and Kagiso Rabada, the Proteas seem primed to get rid of the chokers' tag. It will be a ground-breaking event not just because of the sheer size of the draw but also for the fact that it off...

Gambhir's 'Masala' Take On Relation With Kohli, Says "Country Doesn't..."

The on-field relationship between Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli has been a much talked-about topic among both fans and experts. The spat between the two cricketers during the IPL 2024 match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru created headlines and every cricket fan was eager to know what one felt about the other. However, the controversy was put to rest in 2024 as Gambhir and Kohli 'hugged it out' during the IPL. In a recent interview, Gambhir opened up about his relation with Kohli and said that he will not be giving any 'masala' to the public. “The perception is far away from the reality. My relation with Virat Kohli is something this country doesn't need to know. He has as much right as I do to express himself and help our respective teams win. Our relation is not to give masala to public,” Gambhir told Sportskeeda . Gambhir has emerged as a favourite to replace Rahul Dravid as the Indian cricket team head coach as under his mentors...

Kolkata Knight Riders Register Stunning Feat With IPL 2024 Title Victory

After being crowned the champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) registered the record of the fewest defeats for a team in a single edition of the tournament. KKR lifted their third title under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer after thumping Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final of the tournament with an 8-wicket win. In IPL 2024, the Kolkata-based franchise conceded only three defeats. Shreyas Iyer's side lost only against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Punjab Kings (PBKS), and Rajasthan Royals (RR). Earlier, Rajasthan Royals conceded three losses in the 2008 season and held the record for the fewest defeats for a team in an IPL season. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians had three outright defeats in IPL 2020 but lost twice in super over. Coming to the match, SRH won the toss and elected to bat first. KKR rocked SRH with continuous wickets, with the big buy Mitchell Starc justifying his hefty price tag. Only skipper Pat Cummins (24 in 19 balls, with two...

Akram Gives Sharp Response To Pietersen's "Kohli Should Leave RCB" Remark

Royal Challengers Bengaluru's wait for an Indian Premier League (IPL) title was shattered once again as the franchise crashed out of the tournament after losing to Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Eliminator. RCB managed to pull off a remarkable comeback to reach the playoffs after losing seven of their first eight games. However, RCB succumed to a crushing defeat at the expense of RR in the Eliminator. Virat Kohli was the top performer for the franchise yet again as he bowed out of the tournament with the Orange Cap firmly stuck on his head. The former RCB batter scored 741 runs in 15 matches this season; no other batter has crossed the 600-run mark yet. Kohli has been part of RCB since the inaugral season of IPL in 2008, and has seen his side lost three finals (2009, 2011 and 2016). As RCB's search for an IPL trophy continued, former England captain Kevin Pietersen , who also played for the franchise, advised Kohli to join another team in order to win the elusive title. ...

"Should Back Their Batting-First Approach: Ex-India Great's Advice For SRH

Former India cricketer Suresh Raina said Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) should back their batting-first approach in the upcoming final match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday. Speaking to JioCinema, Raina said that Pat Cummins' presence in the SRH squad will be a key point since the Sunrisers skipper has already won the ODI World Cup recently. The former CSK cricketer added the SRH skipper knows how to keep the dressing room running. "Sunrisers should back their batting first approach and put runs on the board, but the eight overs of spin will be crucial. With KKR having won an IPL in Chennai, the pressure will be different. The key point for SRH is Pat Cummins who has already won the World Cup, he knows how to keep the dressing room running. You follow the process, you are switched on for the finals, the players know their roles, and everything will be organized," Raina said. KKR finished the league stage on the top of the...

SRH defeated Rajasthan Royals comprehensively in Qualifier 2 to book their berth in the summit clash against KKR at the Chepauk Stadium on Sunday. SRH opted to go with a rest day after playing their last game on Friday and they will play directly in the summit  clash. Hardik Pandya And Natasa Stankovic: Why Is The Celebrity Couple In News?

The rumours claimed that the couple, who got married in May 2020 and are parents to a 3-year-old son named Agastya Pandya, have separated. These speculations were triggered by Natasa removing the 'Pandya' surname from her Instagram handle. The speculations further intensified when a post titled "Natasa and Hardik separated" went viral on Reddit where the user questioned her absence from IPL 2024 matches and pointed out that she has not posted any picture with Hardik in the recent past. The post also pointed out that she did not even post something on his birthday. “This is just speculation. But both of them aren't posting each other on stories (Instagram Stories). 'Where's Rinku, Disappeared': England Great's Epic "In Two Years" Comment

Rinku Singh was one of the most notable misses in Indian criket squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup. The middle-order batter has been one of the best T20I talents to have emerged in the last two years. In 15 T20Is, he has scored 356 runs at an average of 89. His strike-rate is 176.24. However, the IPL 2024 has not been kind to the batter. He has scored 168 in 13 games at an average of 18.67. His strike-rate is 148.67.  In the first part of the IPL 2024, Rinku did not get much game-time. When he got, he could not make it count. Former England captain Michael Vaughan said that Rinku could not 'maximise' his chances. "He's had opportunities and he came quite early on some occasions, but couldn't maximise that chance,” Vaughan told Cricbuzz .  "He's a terrific player who can strike the ball. His level is so high now, because we expect. In T20s, you got to take so many risks, that every now and then, you have a run of games where it doesn't quite go your ...

Pakistan Release Pacer Hasan Ali From T20I Squad vs England

Pakistan on Wednesday released pace bowler Hasan Ali from its squad ahead of first T20 International against England at Leeds. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said since senior fast bowler Haris Rauf has regained match fitness, Hasan has been released to complete his commitments in English County cricket. Hasan was initially picked in an 18-member squad that went to Ireland and is now in England as a cover for Haris who is recovering from a groin problem since February. Hasan had competed in one of the T20 Internationals in Ireland but leaked plenty of runs. The players in England will move to the USA and West Indies for the World T20 Cup. Pakistan is the only country which has not announced its 15-member WC squad. Batters Agha Ali Salman and Irfan Niazi who are in England, are expected to be named as travelling reserves for the mega event. The Pakistan and England series is the last T20 commitment for both teams before the World Cup. England players, who were part of the IPL, hav...

"Time Uska Kharab Hota Hai...": Rinku Singh Amid Poor Form, T20 WC Snub

India and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) middle-order Rinku Singh said that his dream is to win a big trophy for his team at senior-level cricket and lift it with his own hands. Rinku, who is travelling as a reserve with the Indian squad for the ICC T20 World Cup starting from June 1 onwards, is representing Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). After a breakthrough season last year, scoring 474 runs at an average of 59.25 and a strike rate of 149.52 with four fifties, Rinku's 2024 season has been underwhelming. With just 168 runs in 11 innings at an average of 18.66 and a best score of 26, Rinku's IPL 2024 has been a disappointment and can be due to either lack of form or lack of opportunities down the order due to good performances put up by the top order. But this lack of fine performances in the ongoing IPL season and not being able to make it to the main squad of T20 WC has not dampened Rinku's spirits, who is still more motivated than e...

Not Gambhir Or Laxman: Ex-India Star Hints At Applying For Head Coach Job

Hinting at the possibility of taking a coaching role for Team India in future, former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh said that he would love to give back to the sport which gave him such an illustrious career if given a chance and added that coaching Men in Blue is all about team management. Harbhajan's statement comes a week after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) invited the applications for position of men's national team head coach, with the tenure starting from July 1 this year and concluding on December 31, 2027, which will the year when the next 50-over Cricket World Cup will take place. "Duty Of Seniors To Keep Players United": Harbhajan On MI Captaincy Row

Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh said that Mumbai Indians (MI) decision to bring back all-rounder Hardik Pandya to the franchise as a captain backfired and the team did not play cohesively as a unit. The ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season was one to forget for five-time champions MI. They brought back Pandya after a two-year stint with Gujarat Titans (GT), which involved winning the title in their debut season in 2022, but replacing Rohit Sharma as a captain led to massive social media backlash for the all-rounder and franchise. Pandya was booed in stadiums all over India during his matches and the team finished at the bottom of the points table with four wins, 10 losses and eight points. Pandya, who had played a crucial role in the franchise's success from 2015-21, could not put on match-winning performances. Speaking to ANI about MI's decision to bring back Pandya, Harbhajan said that the decision backfired and led to a lack of unity in the team. He also felt th...

KKR's Reaction On Rinku's Heartfelt Instagram Post For Yash Dayal Is Gold

Image
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter Rinku Singh shared a heartfelt post for Uttar Pradesh teammate and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer Yash Dayal after the latter helped his side qualify for the Indian Premier League (IPL) playoffs. For the unversed, Rinku and Dayal share a history in the IPL with the KKR batter hitting Dayal for five sixes in an over to help his side win the match. Dayal, who was with Gujarat Titans (GT) back then, saw his confidence hit rock bottom after the beating at the hands of Rinku. He barely featured for GT after that match and was released by GT ahead of IPL 2024. He was then picked by RCB at the auction, and the rest is history. On Saturday, Dayal defended 17 runs off the last over in RCB's do-or-die match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and also dismissed MS Dhoni to help his side reach the playoffs. Taking to Instagram, Rinku praised Dayal with a three word captioned. "God's plan baby Yash Dayal," he captioned a post on hi...

IPL 2024 Will Be Dhoni's Last Season? Ex-CSK Star's Says "Don't Think..."

Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) wicketkeeper-batter Robin Uthappa feels franchise icon MS Dhoni might continue to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) beyond this season. There has been an uncertainity over Dhoni's IPL future over the past few seasons as injuries have limited his participation in the tournament. As CSK geared up to take on RCB in a do-or-die match for both the sides, many believed that the game might be Dhoni's last in the cash-rich league if they fail to reach the playoffs. Even after the conclusion of the match, clarity hasn't come on the topic. Uthappa thinks Dhoni can extend his IPL career beyond this season. "Is this MS's last run? I don't think so, personally, I don't think so. But, do they want to spoil RCB's party? Definitely. Ruturaj, I think, would want to get to the knockout stage in his first season as captain. That will be a huge confidence booster for him and for CSK. It's one for the long run. Let's see wh...

Kohli's "Yorker Nahi" Masterstroke That Led To Yash Dayal Dismissing Dhoni

Royal Challengers Bengaluru fast bowler Yash Dayal produced a brilliant performance against the likes of MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja to guide his team to the IPL playoffs with a massive win over Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024 on Saturday. It was a crucial victory for RCB as they piped CSK to reach the IPL 2024 playoffs. While Dayal showed tremendous grit to clinch the game for his team despite MS Dhoni hitting a mammoth six on the first ball of the over, It was an advice from Virat Kohli that helped the young pacer in claiming the CSK legend's wicket. Dayal looked a bit nervous after Dhoni slammed the first ball of the final over for a 110m six but Virat quickly ran to the bowler and asked him to play to his strengths. "Yorker nahi, slower ball daal (Not the yorker. Majority Of India's T20 WC-Bound Stars To Leave For New York On This Date

The majority of the Indian players along with the jumbo support staff will be flying out to New York on May 25, with the rest leaving for the T20 World Cup only after the May 26 IPL final. Earlier, the members of teams failing to qualify for the play-offs were supposed to leave for New York on May 21, two days after the final league game of the IPL on May 19 but it has since been learnt that there has been some change in plans and now the first batch will leave on May 25. "The likes of skipper Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel are some of the players along with support staff who are expected to leave on May 25," a BCCI source told PTI on the condition of anonymity. "Can't See IND Winning T20 WC Unless...": Ex-AUS Captain's 'Virat' Warning

Former Australian cricket team captain Tim Paine expressed his concern for Team India ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 and even served them a warning concerning star batter Virat Kohli . India are one of the firm favourites ahead of the competition but Paine believes that the campaign will depend heavily on how Kohli ends up performing.  Paine, in conversation with fellow countrymen Aaron Finch and Michael Clarke on the 'Around the Wicket' podcast, compared Kohli to Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and said that if the India star fails to perform, Rohit and Co will not be able to win the title. "I can't see India winning the World Cup unless Virat Kohli has a really strong World Cup – bit similar to Glenn Maxwell's form. I know he hasn't been red-hot as of late but I can't see Australia winning the World Cup unless Maxwell has a blinder," Paine said on the podcast . Recently, Kohli opened up about his retirement plans. "I think as a sport...

RCB vs CSK: Amid Rain Threat, Epic Playoffs Memes Take Internet By Storm

Royal Challengers Bengaluru's fairytale resurgent run will be up against the might of five-time champions Chennai Super Kings and the weather gods when the two sides clash in an epic do-or-die match to decide the fourth and final team for the IPL play-offs, on Saturday. Thursday's washout in Hyderabad meant that Sunrisers Hyderabad joined Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals as the three confirmed teams for the playoffs and the race is now for only one spot with two teams in fray -- CSK and RCB. Boasting of a better net run-rate and more points, defending champions CSK (13 points, NRR 0.528) start favourites at a venue where they have lost to the home side only once in eight matches. RCB has 12 points and a net run-rate of 0.387. However, what has heightened the drama surrounding the game is the forecast of rain. A washout will take CSK through to the playoffs, while RCB will need to win by at least 18 runs or chase the target with about 11 balls to spare. True #rcb ...

"Pressure": Pak Great Pinpoints Reason Behind India's ICC Trophy Drought

India's struggle in the mega tournaments has not been hidden from the world and ahead of the blockbuster T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and USA, former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq opined that the team is lacking behind in finishing strong in the last few years at the ICC events while hailing the current team as "skillful" with "powerful bowling lineup". In last year's ODI World Cup, India remained unbeaten in the tournament until bowing down against Australia in the summit clash at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India have not won any ICC title since the 2013 Champions Trophy under MS Dhoni. They missed out on World Test Championship triumphs on two occasions in the span of three years. In the last edition of the T20 World Cup, Men in Blue faced a defeat at the hands of England in the semifinal to end their campaign. Former Pakistan batter credited India's current pace attack led by Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami while al...

Ponting, IPL Coach, Ex-IND Pacer: Report Reveals Choices For IND Coach Job

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is looking for a new head coach for the men's cricket team as Rahul Dravid's stint will come to an end after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup 2024, and if he wishes to continue, he would have to re-apply for the position, which the veteran has been reportedly denying so far. The multi-format coaching role requires the coach to stay with the team for approximately ten months with the busy men's team calendar. IANS understands that Dravid is ready to step down from the position regardless of the fact whether it ends with the T20 World Cup title or not and wishes to spend time with family. Even though South Africa, Pakistan and England divide their coaching responsibilities between red-ball and white-ball cricket, the BCCI is still unwilling to adopt a similar strategy because India do not have two distinct player groups for two formats. The BCCI also approached ex-Indian players for the position but they will have to fill t...

"His preparation for the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup in West Indies and USA is not expected to be affected," CSA added.
